Entrepreneur: Are You a CEO or Not?
Posted by: | Comments
Entrepreneurs often struggle with the CEO title…
During a recent conversation with an executive coach, I was surprised to hear her refer to a CEO of a well-known company with awe. It occurred to me that this coach did not feel as if she were the CEO of her own venture.
The conversation got really interesting when we talked about her being the CEO of her business and being on the same level as CEOs of other companies. She had never really thought about her business in those terms but began to see lots of possibilities.
This line of thinking is not unusual. For many entrepreneurs, to feel as if they are CEO of their business requires a paradigm shift in thinking. They first have to see their business as a separate entity that they run – just like the Fortune 500 companies. Once this shift occurs, there is usually a significant increase in confidence and credibility which is reflected in all aspects of the business.
So, here’s your challenge:
- Adopt the mindset “I am the CEO of my business.”
- Act like a CEO doing business by declaring your new role.
- Observe the shift in how other business professional react to your new mindset.

Exponential Business Growth Starts with Small Steps
Posted by: | CommentsExponential business growth must be based on business basics in the following three arms of business: operations, finance, and marketing.
Surprised?
Many coaches and consultants tell entrepreneurs that to succeed, all you have to do is market, market, market…
As a marketing veteran, I am the first to say that marketing must be at the heart of your successful business. However, experience has also shown me that exponential growth is just as dependent upon strong operations and solid finances as it is on brilliant marketing.
Here are a few small steps I took early on when establishing my business:
- Operations: Established my legal entity – Strategy Source, Inc. I consulted my tax attorney on which type of entity was best for my business structure and goals.
- Finance: Opened a business checking account so that my funds were not co-mingled with my personal funds. The IRS really appreciates this action.
- Marketing: Set up this blog as the cornerstone of my online communications and marketing efforts.
When you set your business up professionally, everyone takes you more seriously. And, more business opportunities will come your way. Just watch…
